The Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) is responsible for administering the election in Avon and Somerset.

You can vote at the Police and Crime Commissioner elections if you are registered to vote, are 18 and over and are:
- a British citizen
- a European Union citizen living in the UK
- a Commonwealth citizen who has leave to remain in the UK or who does not require such leave*
*Qualifying Commonwealth citizens are people who have leave (permission) to enter or remain in the UK, do not need to have such leave or are treated as having such leave.
